Japan RoHS Labels

The Japanese Standards Association has release the Japanese Industrial Standard for the marking for presence of specific chemical substances for electrical and electronic equipment (JIS C 0950:2005) also known as Japan RoHS or J-MOSS.

This standard requires marking electronic equipment to be introduced into the Japanese market with one of two symbols:

• The Green Mark - to be used If the product is within the tolerances of hazardous chemicals.
• The Content Mark - to be used If any of the hazardous substances were used during the manufacturing of the electrical or electronic equipment. The symbol most include the chemicals which exceed maximum tolerances either on the label or within the product manual.

The legislation also includes instructions for marking of printed materials, catalogs and product URLS.
